Emma came down to see the exhibition and brought some cards with her, we had never met before but I loved her work and here are some examples.

Oh well, back to the day job.

The exhibition is over and I'm late blogging up!

There will be more photos and comments from the exhibition here over the next week or two, also scans of the artwork submitted on this page and the sister page.

Another local lad.

Finding it all very interesting, came in on his way to the shops.

He especially liked the semi nudes.

"wish I'd brought me glasses" said Clive.

Victoria thought it was the most interesting exhibition she had seen this year!

Obviously an artist herself.

"I'll go home and have a think and maybe make a card to bring down"

I think collage was her thing, and I can't wait to see what she brings!

Next to Victoria is Gregory Thacker's work, fine detail in pen & ink.

Marcia on the left, an art student.

Came in as a result of seeing a poster I had put in a pub.

Ah....students and pubs, I remember it well!

Marcia had seen something similar at college where students bought a blank post card and decorated it, the results were auctioned off and the money used to fund another art project.

She like the collage, very tactile and the wooded display boxes.

Came back in and took some photos.

She asked if I collected many images for my collages, I didn't want to scare her but if she could see my spare bedroom!!

We chatted about the best magazines to buy for good collages and don't let on I told you but she's got this thing about trees..........enough said?

She came in to do a reccy as she's having an exhibition here at the Gallery in November, I think she said beginning the 14th

She's an artist printmaker.

May come back with her tape measure.

Sandra &Sabine

Two lovely ladies from Germany.

I explained the connection with baseball cards.

Sabine said "Much nicer than baseball cards!"

Spent a long time looking and politely asked if they could take photo's, to which I said yes.

"Can I buy one? Sandra asked.

I told her they were not for sale but that she could exchange with me or request one of mine from the exhibition and I gave her my email address and explained about ACEO's.

Watch out Sandra, they are addictive!

So much detail, like modern miniatures, have you thought of framing them in a group?

they're are so interesting.

Are they business cards? They are good adverts for your work aren't they.

Eric, a local chap

"Are you here for the week? I'd like to call back in and maybe bring something in.

I'll have to see if I can scale my work down"

Eric showed me a beautiful photo on his phone that he had done in acrylic of a skate boarder in beautiful bright colours.

He was truly intriqued and spent ages chatting and looking at the cards.

Funny, you can always spot a fellow artist!

He asked if they were for sale and I explained the difference between ATC's & ACEO 's

"I'll look them up on the net" said Eric.

I have a feeling I will see Eric again.

Day Two.........em what are these called again!??

It seems these little works are capturing peoples imagination....at last I'll have someone to TRADE with!!
Not that I'm knocking internet trades but this is what it's all about, the one to one trades and getting names and phone numbers to start trade sessions is what I did this for.

The First Day! NOTE. These pictures will not enlarge when you click on them,they were taken with my cell phone and there is not enought detail to enlarge.

I found some unusual printers trays to display some of the work in and the rest we put onto board and placed some directly onto the wall, to good effect!

These are the first pic's from the exhibition, I don't have a digital camera so these were taken on my phone.

I have a load that I need to get developed and I will post some of these later.

People are still sending in ATC's and ACEO's, we have almost 800 on display.

We had the press in today to take photos and an interview too so we have that to look forward to as well....except I hate having my photo taken :(

Call for Submissions : The First International Artist Trading Card Exhibition in the UK!

Walcot Chapel Gallery, Bath, England.

Artist Trading Cards, or ATC's as they are called, are virtually unknown here in the UK, so to promote them I have organised the following exhibition.

Organised and funded entirely by me and at personal cost to me, so any contribution ( in cards NOT in money ) is more than greatly accepted and you get to being included in the first ever International Artist Trading Card Exhibition in the UK!

To be included in the exhibition, the "fee" or "payment" for inclusion in the exhibition is two donated act's more if you wish.

These works can not be returned and donated cards will become part of my personal collection after the exhibition.

The Artist Trading Card Exhibition is a promotional exhibition only and no cards are for sale.
Any medium, especially hand drawn or painted, linocut, fabric, non-paper is good too.

But we already have many digital copies so please send original works only.
Your best efforts please, we want to show the UK just how fantastic this new art phenomena is, not to mention what fantastic artists you all are! we need to wet those appetites!

All artists who donate cards will have their work named in the exhibition.
Size: 2 ½ x3 ½ cards may be any shape as long as they fit into the 2 ½ x 3 ½ frame, any that do not fit within this frame can not be used.
If embellishments i.e. fibers are outside this framework that's ok, but the card itself must fit within 2 ½ x 3 ½ frame as it's got to fit into a plastic sleeve in order to be exhibited.
I will post photos, comments and any publicity generated by the exhibition on my web site and blog, and there will be documentation to anyone who donates cards and requests it.

The Gallery is Walcot Chapel, Bath, Somerset

A very picturesque building (once a mortuary chapel) surrounded by green fields on the edge of the old artisan quarter of Bath.
The date of the exhibition is week beginning 10th Oct. 2005.
Cards can be sent any time from now right up until the above date, and all works will be included.

Please note.

Anyone intending to send more that 4 cards please include a small bio of yourself, contact e-mail etc. so that this can be exhibited alongside your work.

Otherwise work will be grouped according to medium.

Art Cards, Editions and Originals

ACEO

As an offshoot of ATC's, Art Cards Editions and Originals or ACEO's as they are more popularly known will also be represented in the exhibition.

These are the same size as atc's but are not traded they are bought and sold.

There is much debate about the rights and wrongs of sell or trade within the artist trading card community, with good points being made on both sides.

I have chosen to include both ATC's and ACEO's within this exhibition as an example of the way in which this art movement is continuing to develop.
